Seaside Cobalt wedding at La Valencia Hotel La Jolla

A historic hotel, cobalt accents, and abundant flowers makes for a beautiful wedding with gorgeous details. Tracy and Peder centered their special day around a sapphire crystal and platinum motif at the La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla.   Event designer Karen Tran created lush centerpieces in a white, ivory, and pale green palette with hanging cobalt crystals. Floating candles with lightly colored water and cobalt uplighting light up the room as the guest danced the night away. How luxurious is that draped awning with embellished chandeliers?? Wendy Ware is the ever talented calligrapher that designed the crystal menus, table numbers, and escort cards. Susanne Duffy of Crown Weddings always does a fantastic job of putting together an incredible event. These whimsical photos were courtesy of Tim Otto Photography

A swanky wedding at the Parker Palm Springs

There are so many things that made us fall in love with this wedding, where do we begin? Lets start with the ultra hip venue, the Parker Palm Springs. This cool retro hotel was the perfect place for Kelly and Michael’s fresh and vibrant wedding. We’re smitten with the yellow and white floral balls and calla lily bouquets designed by Karen Tran Florals. The beautiful bride carried delicate gathering of cattleya orchids down the aisle. And speaking of aisle, the candle lit petal path full of carnation spheres has our hearts racing! Dramatic floor length drapes of the Mafiya suite made a stunning backdrop for the couple nuptials. An unexpected rainstorm wasn’t enough to deter Susanne Duffy from pulling off a flawless soiree. Different vases with submerged orchids, cascading calla lilies, and darling flower balls take center stage on damask runners. Floating candles and votives made the arrangements light up as the party lasted throughout the night.  Photos by Boyd Harris.

Glamorous seaside vintage wedding

We can’t get over how adorable this bride was! Especially in her darling flowing Monique Lhjuiller dress which paired perfectly with the fluid draping of the canopy. Karen Tran Florals decorated Darby and Rod’s wedding with lots of delicious vintage details. Grey and antique silver was the central colors, highlighted by white and ivory roses, hydrangea, and orchids. La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla, with its timeless appeal, was selected as the venue for this lusciously vintage wedding. Darby walked down the aisle holding an elegant bouquet of gardenias and roses, finished with an antique sequin trim and a vintage inspired brooch. Guest walked into a Veranda Room completely draped in white chiffon. The billowy awning and embellished chandelier made an especially striking statement. Each of the tables had a vintage inspired candelabra filled with white and ivory flowers overflowing in the center. Mercury glass votives, crystals, flowing orchids, an ocean view! Guests were also greeted with a beautiful crystal manzanita tree decked out with crystals and vintage embellishments.  It’s enough to make anyone swoon. This lovely soiree was orchestrated by San Diego wedding planner Catherine Bachelier Smith of CBS weddings. Big thanks to Darin Fong for the stunning photos!

Laura and Robert ~ a touch of cobalt blue

Take a central color like cobalt blue in the Mediterranean inspired La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla add pristine white flowers in various vases and lots of candlelight, you get a gorgeous wedding like Laura and Robert’s.  Karen Tran Florals used a combination of calla lilies, phalaenopsis orchids, white hydrangeas, crystals, and floating candles to create a clean and elegant tablescape. Cobalt blue tiles were used as accents to tie it all together. Laura walked down petal strewn aisle in a darling cobalt heels and held a a timeless bouquet of gardenias, roses, and orchids. How about her sapphire crystal brooch for her dress? It was the small details that made this wedding so elegant.  Catherine of CBS Weddings, with her immaculate style used Mediterranean coaster as party favors and made everything run smoothly. With Wayne Foster Entertainment playing, you always know it’s going to be a party! Photos courtesy of Paul Barnett

Lovely and Radiant beach style wedding: Julia and Barry

Karen Tran Florals took this brides love for organic style and created a dreamy wedding full of naturalistic details. Emily Smiley helped to coordinate and did an excellent job at that! Julia and Barry exchanged their vows under a graceful manzanita chuppah cascading with hand wired phaleanopsis orchids right on the sand of the Hotel Del Coronado. The bridesmaids, in their eye-catching off the shoulder dresses, held coral rose bouquets intermixed with orchids, succulents, and other earthy delights. Julia carried a loosely arranged gathering of gardenias, lily of the valley, and subtle hints coral roses. Grapevine logs with blooms tucked into the crevices lined the dense petal path leading up to the canopy. How else to finish this romantic beach wedding but in the whimsically decorated Grand Ballroom at the Hotel Del Coronado. Each table had a fanciful centerpiece of manzanita and grapewood flourishing with orchids, roses, and moss. San Diego Bayside Wedding

 This bride is a striking modern day Elizabeth Taylor! Elizabeth (A coincidence they have the same name? I think not!) and Daejin celebrated their hot and lively wedding at the Hilton San Diego Resort overlooking the bay. Nature inspired wedding: Romance by the sea

Loan and Eric had a Fall wedding, but loved the look of viburnum branches in the Spring. So Karen Tran was faced with the challenge of recreating a vernal look with the flowers available. A whimsical canopy was created out of intertwined curly willow with hand wired hydrangeas, cymbidium orchids, and hanging amaranthus. The bridemaids walked down an exquisite petal path while holding a bouquet of nude colored roses filled with lady slipper and cymbidium orchids. In keeping with the theme of natural elegance, Loan carried a bouquet of loosely arranged gardenias with accents of charlie brown orchids. The celebration continued in the Coronet Ballroom, decorated like an ethereal springtime garden. Cappuccino satin linens laid the foundation for fanciful organic centerpieces with hand wired hydrangea and orchids. Romantic candlelight glowed from the mercury glass votives. Emily Smiley helped to orchestrate and Darin Fong captured all the photos of this elegant beach side event.

A cheerful Vibrant wedding: Mandy and Scott

This wonderful affair is for the bride that can’t get enough of bright fun colors. Mandy and Scott chose to have their wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado in a vibrant and tropical fashion. The couple said their vows under a green bamboo canopy packed with fuschia, yellow, and green peonies, roses, and orchids. From the corners swayed green orchid leis and crystals. Tropical bamboo poles topped with even more brightly colored blooms flanked the carpet of hot pink petals. A wedding decorated by Karen Tran is never without fabulous details: lavender scented water and towels were placed by the sand so guest could be ready for their dancing shoes. Now onto the party! What more puts people in the party mood than fun and festive decor? Centerpieces overflowing with peonies, orchids, lilies, roses, leis, and crystals all on top of hot pink linens wowed the guests.  Pistachio and raspberry macarons with the couples hand painted initials were given to each guest. Emily Smiley  was the wedding planner for this spectacular event.  How awesome and jaw dropping are these photographs from Darin Fong? Grogeous, right?

Set up on a blind date, the couple met at a local restaurant where the bride was fashionably over an hour late. Rushing directly from the gym, hair still wet and without makeup, Karen met Russ at the front door of the restaurant where she describes the initial meeting as simply, love at first site. Russ proposed just 4 months later on Karen’s birthday at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach, after dinner while the couple was overlooking the captivating sunset on the horizon.
As the couple planned their wedding day, they wanted to provide our guests with a truly unique experience. So a great deal of time and effort went into every small detail. Karen always wanted lush white colors to surround her on her wedding day; her vision came true. From the aisle runner, to the all white flowers that cascaded the ceremony site and the reception site, the wedding could only be described as lush, romantic and elegant.  As Karen walked down the custom, hand painted aisle runner toward Russ, their 6 piece Gospel choir sang Norah Jones’, Come Away with Me, bringing a tear to her eyes. The couple exchanged their personally written vows to each other, which they kept secret until the day of the ceremony, under an altar canopy which they spent hours building and decorating together. The stunning chandelier that the couple purchased in France, a centerpiece to the altar canopy, is now hanging in the couple’s bathroom.   Following the ceremony, the Island themed cocktail hour began on the lawn of the property, with the Pacific Ocean providing the perfect backdrop. Adding to the ambiance, a Hawaiian band serenaded guests along with beautiful island dancers. Guests were ushered to their tables, each adorned with hand painted mahogany framed table names, representing the names of the couple’s 7 children, their attendants and their parents.Set against the music provided by {Wayne Foster Entertainment} guests enjoyed dancing on the custom built dance floor by {platinumpro} adorned with the couple’s logo, martini’s from the ice bar, and fireworks that topped off the evening on the beach.  Beautifully coordinated by {Emily Smiley} and photographed by {Darin Fong}
